Alexis Polles, M.D.
Medical Director
Alexis Polles, M.D. is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine. She is residency trained in Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. Dr. Polles has worked with professionals with addictive and psychiatric disorders for more than 30 years in clinical and administrative roles. She is the former Medical Director of the Mississippi Professionals Health Network. Dr. Polles is a Board Certified psychiatrist and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, a Certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA approved trainer, a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor, and a Certified Medical Review Officer. She has been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Her special areas of interest, in addition to addiction, are professional sexual misconduct, professional burnout, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Williams S. Jacobs, M.D.
Associate Medical Director
Williams S. Jacobs, M.D. is Board Certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. A Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude University of Georgia undergraduate and graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Jacobs did his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham before matriculating to UF for his Addiction Medicine Fellowship. He is currently Professor in Psychiatry and Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Georgia. His work has included serving as Medical Director of multiple addiction treatment programs as well as expert witness work, consulting with state and federal agencies, authoring peer reviewed works and as an investigator on pharmacologic studies.
Martha E. Brown, M.D.
Associate Medical Director
Martha E. Brown, M.D. is an Associate Professor at the UF College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and the Addiction Medicine Group and Florida Recovery Center (FRC). After graduation from Clemson University, Dr. Brown matriculated to Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where she was a medical student, intern, resident and Chief Resident, and finally an Addiction Psychiatry Fellow. After graduation, she moved to New Orleans where she was an Assistant Professor at the Louisiana State University Medical School (LSU) and became Louisiana State Physician Health Program Director. After leading this program for impaired health professionals, developing prevention and treatment for patients from physicians to professional athletes, she was recruited to the University of South Florida (USF) Medical School where she became an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Division of Addiction Psychiatry. In 2006, she became Associate Dean for Faculty Development in the USF College of Medicine. Dr. Brown is a double boarded psychiatrist and a national expert on controlled substance “Misprescribing” and areas of professionalism. Dr. Brown has a long history of being asked to be an expert by State and Federal governmental agencies, and has a number of scholarly and research interests in addiction psychiatry.
Penelope P. Ziegler, M.D., FASAM
Medical Director Emerita
Penelope P. Ziegler, M.D., FASAM, is the former Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Professionals Resource Network, Inc. (PRN). Before coming to PRN in July 2013, Dr. Ziegler was the Medical Director of the Virginia Health Practitioners’ Monitoring Program. She has worked in the addiction field since 1985, and been the Medical Director of several treatment and monitoring programs. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Federation of State Physician Health Programs. Dr. Ziegler is Board Certified in general and addiction psychiatry and in addiction medicine.
Delena R. Torrence, MS, CAP, ICADC
Case Manager Supervisor
Delena graduated from California State College (now California University of Pennsylvania), with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Aging Specialist Certificate. She is also a graduate of Springfield College in Tampa, Florida with a Masters of Science in Human Services, and a minor in Community Psychology. Delena is certified by the State of Florida as an Addiction Professional as well as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Delena has been employed by the Professionals Resource Network (PRN) as a Case Manager since 2001. She has been involved with referring participants for evaluation and treatment as well as being responsible for monitoring the participants. Delena is assigned to monitor medical students and acts as liaison between the medical school contacts and PRN. Delena assists in orienting and training new case management staff.
Tish Conwell
Chief Operating Officer
Tish Conwell is the Chief Operating Officer at PRN. Ms. Conwell has worked at PRN since 2001, and assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2019. Ms. Conwell’s responsibilities include management of the Administrative Department staff and operations, liaison with the Florida Medical Association, Department of Health and Department of Business and Professional Regulation and University researches for PRN research and data analysis.
